CAN I DO THIS?

One of the questions we are asked most often is “will I be able to do this?”

The answer is typically yes, but dogsledding is most definitely a physical activity - you will not simply

be standing on the sled watching the world go by, and winter camping is a little

different than summer camping.

Is a multi day trip right for you?

If you've made it this far, the answer is probably yes, but ask yourself the following

questions to be sure;

?

?

?

?

?

Are you someone who enjoys backcountry travel and camping?
Do you enjoy being outdoors for extended periods of time in the winter?
Is vigorous cardio exercise part of your weekly routine?
(hiking/walking, gym workouts, recreational sports leagues, bicycle commute, mountain biking, physical job, etc.)?
Do you enjoy working as part of a team?
Do you enjoy the satisfaction and rewards of a challenging day’s work?
If you answered yes to the above questions, you are an ideal candidate for a trip of this nature.  Due to the rugged nature of our backcountry trails, our trips do require you to be healthy and in relatively good physical shape. You will be an active member of the team and your dog team will be counting on you to help them out by getting off the sled from time to time and walking up hills or pushing the sled to help them along. You will also be using your body to steer and slow the sled as well as harnessing the dogs, hooking them up to the sled and participating in their care in camp. Our trips are a fully immersive dog sledding and winter camping experience and we encourage our guests to be involved in all aspects of camp life!

If you don't think your physical abilities are up to a trip of this nature, or if you have past injuries, surgical history or health conditions that limit your mobility or a history of cardio and/or pulmonary illness (excluding controlled asthma) we would recommend starting with a trip provider who offers shorter trips to ensure your enjoyment of this amazing experience. We’d be happy to make recommendations.
